Analysis of a front page and contents

This is the front page of NME magazine. As I am now starting to produce my front page and contents, I am going to analyse this to help me with making my own. I am going to analyse it using AIDA!

The bold fonts and bright colours of the front cover attract the readers ATTENTION! The red font stands out against the black and is eyecatching and attractive
The INTEREST of the reader is caught by using a famous band, 'Babyshambles.' People who read NME magazine will generally be interested in this kind of band, as well as the other band names on the front cover such as 'The Courteneers', 'My Chemical Romance' and 'Kasabian'.
Words like 'NEW' are used on the front cover of this magazine. The word is used three times in the line 'NEW ALBUM. NEW TOUR. NEW PETE.' This word makes the reader feel that they will be the first to hear about these things as they are 'new.' This makes the audience DESIRE the product. Another word often used on front covers of magazines to make them desire the product is the word 'EXCLUSIVE!'
Finally, the audience need to take ACTION and buy the magazine. For this to happen, the magazine needs to be recognisable so that the audience will WANT TO PURCHASE IT!! The colours red and black are often associated with NME magazine as you can also see on the contents page. Because artists that the audience will want to hear about are used, this should make them take action.

The contents page is attractive because it also used the familiar red and black colours that are often used in NME magazine. The layout of this contents page is simple, with the list of pages right down the left hand side.It is easy for the reader to read so they can access the pages they want to get to.
The title of the contents page is 'What's inside' rather than just using the word 'Contents' this makes it more interesting and different from other magazines. Although when the reader is looking at the contents page they may have already bought the magazine, it still has to be interesting to ensure that they will buy the magazine again!
