I am quite happy with my final front cover. The image that I used uses direct address, which jumps out at the reader and draws their interest into the magazine. On the front cover I haved used a green, black and white colour scheme which matches with the artist's outfit. I wanted to stick to the colour scheme because it keeps the front cover looking attractive and as the green is bright it grabs the readers attention. I have included a logo which I made on Indesign on my front page because it makes the magazine recognisable to the audience. I've used a strapline at the top of the magazine which gives names of other artists that are featured in the magazine. This imediately gives the reader an idea of what will be inside, by just looking at the front cover! On the leading caption, 'PAUL WOOD EXCLUSIVE' which is about my feature article, I've used the journalistic word 'EXCLUSIVE' to draw the reader in and make them feel like they HAVE to read the article. I've also used a barcode and price to make the magazine cover look proffesional. I've used lots of different fonts, to try and keep the magazine cover looking fun, interesting and attractive. There are some things that I would change about the front cover if I could do it again. I could have used lots of different colours which would have probably been more eye catching, but I didn't want the magazine cover too look too messy and unproffesional. If I had planned the space around my main image better, I could maybe have fit more information on the front page and made it look more busy and interesting.
I am also quite happy with the contents page. I think that keeping with the colour scheme makes all the pages seem linked together and keeps a theme throughout the pages! I like the image of my artists that I used on the magazine, I think it looks very fun and relaxed, which the target audience can relate to as they are teenagers.I have once again used my logo on the contents page, because I think it fits well and makes the page look more interesting. I've tried to use a variation of fonts on my contents, using different fonts for the headings, page names and the descriptions. I did this to once again keep the page looking interesting! To make my contents page better, I could have took photographs of many different people to show what other artists are featured in the magazine and also to make the contents page look more busy because it reflects the magazine. I could have dotted the page numbers around rather than put them in a column because this may look the contents page more attractive. I also could have put more writing into the editor's note, like what things had gone on in the music industry that week, or the editor's own opinions!
I like the big image that I have used of my artist on the feature article. I think it is relaxed and it sets off the mood for the article. I think the shadow effect I used makes the model look like he is jumping out at the reader. The white title stands out against the black background and catches the readers eye, this draws the readers interest, if they were just flicking through the magazine. I used a short introduction in the translucent green box to set the article off, rather than jumping straight into the questions without giving the artist any background. I used yellow text grabs because I thought that the colour stands out, and if the reader was flicking through they would catch the readers eye and make them stop to read the article. If I had had better planning of my text in the space of the article, I would have used more text grabs rather than just two that are not very spread out. I think I could have used different colours for the fonts rather than green and white. I was trying to stick to the colours of the front cover, contents and artists clothing but I think if I had used different colours it would have looked more interesting.
